It has been in the high 70's for several days now and the daffodils are in bloom and the trees are budding and showing a hint of green. How lovely. Spring is my favorite season. Because everything is coming back to life again after sleeping through the winter.
I am feeling pretty well these days, for the most part. I am sure I could be losing more weight than I am but I am eating too often. At least I am not gaining. I am down to 238 now though.
I went to Goodwill this past Saturday and bought a pair of jeans which are size 22. They are tight but I can get them on :) If I would exercise more and eat better I could probably drop 20 more pounds pretty easily.
Got a little Spring cleaning done today. I woul love to rip up my carpet in the living room though. There is wood floor underneath and I know it would look better than this dirty carpet. I do know that the wood floor looks good around the edges but probably needs to be refinished in the high traffic areas. I think it would increase the value of my house though. I laid laminate flooring in the kitchen right after I moved in. I am going to buy a new fridge and gas stove in stainless steel sometime this year. Want to pay off my Plasma tv first. I bought it mainly to watch the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl :) Sure am glad we won....lol
Well that it is for now. Someday soon I am going to get my son to take my pic on the digital camera so I can post a current photo and older photo so you can see my progress.
Hugs to you and Blessings,
T

Been Gone Too Long

Hi All,
Sorry I haven't updated my blog in sooo long. I feel so stretched on so many levels. I am still mentoring 3rd graders. I am picking my sister up from her kidney dialysis 3 x's a week and also taking her to the store and other such things. I have one daughter who is fighting a drug addiction, another daughter who is battling severe depression and a 34 year old son who is still living at home and doesn't make life any easier for me. Oh woe is me HuH? Let's have a pity party. Nah don't want a party for pity or any other reason. I am sure there are people who have it much much worse than I do and I should be grateful for all of my many blessings everyday. But anyway blogging just isn't top priority right now.
I am now down to 242.6 since my DS surgery on the 12/13/06. I go see Dr. Inman for my 3 month visit on 2/12/07 which is next week. It does seem like I am hungry most all the time though. But I am sure it is just head hunger and not body hunger. Still doesn't make it easy to live with daily, thinking I am hungry. Wasn't supposed to have any lettuce or salad making until I was 3 months out but was thinking of it all the time so gave in to it and it hasn't hurt me a bit. I am lovin it!! Matter of fact I am sitting here eating a salad I made right now. YUM! My favorite dressing is Red Wine and Vinegar by WishBone.
Well I will try to keep in touch a little better to keep up to date but until then you all take care and I will talk to you soon.
Hugs and Blessings,
Trish

Bad day at Bedrock

Spent a terrible week-end in lots of pain and suffering. Even paid a visit to the ER to see if maybe something was blocked in my stomach but after cat scan it showed there was no blockage nor any kinks in intestines. All I knew is that I was in excruciating pain. It hurt worse whenever I laid down which made it impossible to get any sleep Saturday and I was exhausted. Long about 7 a.m. Sunday morning I decided to try some "Maalox" and it helped alot. I was able to sleep for 2 hours then. I had quit taking my Nexium for about 5 days and I guess the bile in my stomach built up real bad and it hurt me lots. I won't let that happen again if I can help it.
I don't much feel like going to mentor today but will do it anyway. I called in last week and took off and don't want to miss 2 weeks in a row. I know the kids count on their mentor being there and I don't want to let them down. Also it doesn't set a good example for them by missing.
My son's girlfriend and her 19 month old son have come here from Ohio to spend the next 2 weeks. She is thinking of moving here and getting a job here so my son and her can be together. They, the girl and her son, are so very sweet but it makes my house a mess all the time having a baby around. But you just gotta love him cause he is just the most sweet and adorable tornado, whoops, baby around.
It seems like I have done a lot of complaining in my blog today. Sorry about that folks.
We are expecting much snow tonight and tomorrow and I have to take my sister to hospital tomorrow so she can have a new stint put in for her dialysis. That should be fun traveling if we get all the snow we are supposed to :)
Well enough of this I will end this tirade for now and hopefull will have new things to tell next time.
Hugs

How about those Colts!!

Well to say we are ecstatic here in Indy would be putting it mildly. We are moved to tears around here. First of all I would like to say how very pleased I am with the Christianity that is showing in our coach and the players. It does my heart good to hear them give the Glory to God first. They played a hell of a game too. So did the Bears in the first half. But the Colts are known to be their strongest in the second half.
There is going to be a parade here this afternoon but I probably won't go as it is only supposed to get to 9 degrees for a high here today and I am in no mood to get sick with a virus.
I have my mentoring to do today. Did I tell you that I mentor? Well I do. It only takes an hour a week and I have 2 kids in 3rd grade that I mentor. They are learning how to read more fluently. This is my 3rd year to do this and it has been very rewarding all along. When you have been blessed with much blessing then it is so good to give back to others. I may not have much money (I am on disability) but there are many ways to give without getting into your purse.
Spent all morning working on my kitchen and cleaning it up. Only had about 6 people here last night to watch the game but there was still quite a mess to clean up. I made BBQ chicken wings and Ranch Dressing chicken legs and con quesa to dip our chips in which was very tasty.
I am definately hooked on the Food Channel and watch it everyday. Since I can't eat I can still watch food on t.v. LOL There is more than one way to get your food fix :)
I weighed in at 257.3 this a.m. that is from 301. I am going to have one of my kids take a new picture of me soon and post before and after pictures.
Well that is about enough for now. Hope you all have a good week ahead.
Hugs to ya!

C'mon Patriots!

Show us what ya got Patriots. We are so ready to go to the Super Bowl this year and pity the poor team that stands in our way today! We, the Colts, have come so close to the Super Bowl for the last 3 years and the Patriots have stood in our way twice and if you count today it is 3 times but if faith and hope wins the game then we are in for sure. We have the best coach around, Coach Tony Dungy we love you! So let's go team. Bring home the Super Bowl rings this year!!
We got snow here. Our first good snowfall of the season. It has been a warm winter for the most part but finally got some snow. About 3 inches here. Looked awfully pretty for a little while till it got tramped up. We needed some good ol snow here. But now that we have had it I am ready for Spring:)
I am doing pretty well on losing weight so far. I am now down to 263 from 301 starting weight. Can't really complain about that seeing as how I am only 5 1/2 weeks out. Will be 6 weeks out this coming Wednesday.
Didn't go to church this a.m. because of the snow. I am not surefooted yet and I sure didn't want to go out and fall down. I am the Queen of Klutz you see. I have broken my back once and have broken my feet or leg 4 x's. Not to mention having a concussion and several stitches in my head from a fall going up steps. My mother should've named me Grace, then maybe I would've had some.
Well that is it for today.
Hope you all have a great week-end.

Welcme Sunday

Got to go to church today. Artie picked me up and we went together. Sure do love my church and church family. Was so glad to be there and see everyone.
Still having trouble getting in all my protein. Feeling blah and light headed some days. I go see my PCP on Tuesday. Wondering how weather might be then. We have been getting rain for last 2-3 days but they are talking about a winter storm could move through here like it did through Missouri. Not looking forward to that. So slippery underfoot when that happens and I am such a clutz, or an accident looking for a place to happen. I have broken each of my legs/and or foot 2 x's and my arm once which earned me a 4 day stay in hospital. I broke it really bad and they needed to do surgery but due to the trauma of the fall my sugar went way up and they didn't feel it was safe to operate on me. Now I can't lift up my left arm very high which makes it impossible to style my hair like I used to. So I keep it cut short now as it doesn't take much to fix it up.
I think when I go to the doctors on Tuesday that I will find I have lost more weight. Probably in the 260's by now.
Well if you stopped by to read this then thank you. Have a great day.

A New Year A New Day

Goodness I hadn't realized I hadn't blogged lately. Guess I am not very good at this blogging thing. I sure would be dissappointed if my ppl I read daily didn't blog any better than I do. I would've deleted them already. Well I will try to do better. I just live such a boring life and have nothing to write about most of the time.
But I can do some updating on my condition. I went to my DS doctor last Monday and have lost 27 lbs so far. Not bad for the first month I think. I am not counting the water weight gain I experienced right after surgery. That was 37 lbs in and of itself. Wow was I ever swelled up! I am counting what I weighed when they weighed me in before surgery on surgery day. That was 301 and now I am at 273 so that is the 27 lbs. But actually I am pretty sure I am in the 260's now. My scales say I am anyway. I go see my PCP this next Tuesday and will find out weight then.
I ate some chicken, cheese, pasta dish last night for dinner and haven't felt very good since then. I think maybe it is the carbs that done me in. Also my stool was black this morning so am thinking maybe I won't do that again anytime soon. So for breakfast this a.m. I did applesauce again. This is all a learning thing right now. If it makes me feel bad then don't do that dish again for a while.
I have been going to sleep between 8 and 9 p.m. every night which also means I am missing all of my favorite shows. Like Grey's Anatomy and ER on Thursday nights. Oh well I guess my body must need the sleep or I wouldn't be going to sleep so early.
Well guess I will go for now. Will post more when I have more to say.
Hugs to you all

Home Again

Had my surgery on December 13th at planned. Spent 5 days in hospital and then nearly a week with one daughter and then the other. Came back to my own home the day after Christmas. I cannot begin to tell you how good it is to be in my own bed again. I love and appreciate my daughters to no end but there is no place like home. Ol Dorothy knew what she was talking about. I just know I am getting better, faster, since coming home. Although still not sleeping very well still. Okay not to get ahead of myself I will tell you about my surgery and events surrounding it.
Got up at 5 a.m. to go to hospital. Took my shower and picked up daughter and off we went. Got to hospital and I checked in. They took me back and got me gowned and blood drawn and weight taken (which was 301). I sat back to wait and they brought daughter back to sit with me. Eventually the anesthesiologist came back and put in an i.v. Soon came my surgeon, Dr. Margaret Inman. I like her very much and have much confidence in her. I would recommend her highly to anyone wanting Bariatric Surgery. Even though I had some complications after surgery I don't believe they were caused by her in any way.
They walked me back to the OR (this is the first time ever I have walked under my own power back to surgery). I was just a Happy Humphrey. No I didn't have any happy drugs, I just felt like I was doing the right thing all along. I laid down on the table and they put the mask over my face and I drifted off to slumberland. That is the last thing I remember for 2 days. Literally.
I guess I scared my daughter to death with my hallucinations and ramblings on Thursday the 14th but I don't remember any of that. My kidneys decided to stop working effectively and I was only absorbing 70% oxygen and they put me on a c-pap machine which I hated because it made me claustrophobic. Due to retaining fluids after surgery I skyrocketed to 338 lbs by the time I got released from hospital. They catherized me but eventually my kidneys started working alright again. For a couple of days I had trouble holding on to anything. I dropped my cups and anything else I tried to pick up. I had to have 7 gown changes in one day due to spills. They were so very kind to me there though and never made me feel like I was putting them out or was a bother. You would think they would clap when it came time for me to leave but they gave out hugs and well wishes when I left. After 5 days they sent me home and I went to my daughters, Missy's home. I proceeded to fall down the next morning when getting up out of bed. Can you imagine trying to lift someone who now weighed 338. That was a tough one so after that I was scared to get up by myself. I stayed with her and her family from Tuesday till Saturday and then went to other daughter's home, Chelle and stayed till day after Christmas when I went to see Primary Care Physician and then came home. I am doing better now. I weighed 304 yesterday so the fluid is coming off. I am taking my vitamins like a good girl.
Drinking lots of fluids like Crystal Lite, Water and milk. Eating applesauce, yogurt, cottage cheese, jello, sugar free popsicles etc.
I have gotten out and driven 2 times to the pharmacy to get prescriptions and managed to do that but it wiped me out for the rest of the day. Primary care doc put me on iron pills today so I must be anemic which I would think would not be unusual after surgery.
I will try to do better about updating my blog as things move along.

It's A Go

Well the doctor's office called me today and I have passed all of my test and the surgery is a go for next Wednesday. Winter is now here. Sure did enjoy the Indian Summer we had in November. Was wonderful! But alas it couldn't last forever....and wouldn't really want it to. That is why I live in a cold climate state. I would be bored if it was warm all year. I also enjoy the changing of the colors of leaves in fall and look forward to the first big snow. But by February I am done with it and am more than ready for Spring.
I haven't been blogging here lately. Never was very good with keeping a journal or diary going either. Just get bored with it all...and yet I enjoy others blogs and am disappointed when they don't post regularly...lol
Last week was supremely busy for me. On Wednesday I had my pre-op testing done and it looks like I passed everything. The worst part was the barium and Upper GI test. Then on Thursday I had to go to pre-op classes, where I received a sippy cup and a baby spoon, which I will be using after my surgery.
Yesterday I took my son on some errands he had and then took him to pick up his car from the mechanics. So now he will be able to take himself.
Next Tuesday I will go in for a stress test and then my surgery will be a week from this coming Wednesday.
I have been feverishly working on finishing up an afghan that I made using Swedish Embroidary so that I could give it to the clinic office I go to just to say thank you for being so nice when I have a doctors visit. Here is a picture of said afghan....done in shades of purple..
sure hope they like it :)
I am just learning how to insert pictures, which wasn't too difficult this time around. I will be putting up before and during pictures of my progress on my weight loss as it comes along.

Well the buzzer on the dryer just went off so I am off to fold up the first load of my laundry and dry my second. This is a good day to stay in and do work around the house and knit on sweater I am making for my grandson.

Have a good one all.
Hugs,
Trish

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi All, I hope you are having a good and satisfying turkey day. I also hope we are counting our blessings and remembering the things we have to be thankful for. If I may I will list a few of my blessings for which I give thanks daily.
Thank you for the gift of my salvation.
Thank you for the gift of my children. They are truly a blessing to me.
Thank you for my friends and family.
Thank you for my home and car.
Thank you for meeting all of my needs according to your riches in glory.
Thank you for my pets.
Thank you for my 5 senses. Being able to see the beauty that surrounds me everyday, for being able to hear the rain on the roof, to be able to smell the turkey cooking in the oven, to feel the soft touch of one of my grandchildren's hugs.
Also thank you for the cognitive function that allows me to record these things in my memory.
I am truly blessed.
I am looking forward to black Friday tomorrow. Hope to get some real bargains.
Well I am gonna go and baste the turkey and then go take a quick nap before people start arriving to my home.
Wishing you all the best that life has to offer.
Hugs,
Trish

I Got a Cold

I feel like crap! I think there is a bug going around right now and it caught up with me. I just had my flu shot about 3 weeks ago. So I shouldn't be experiencing the flu but I feel like I am. My body aches somethin awful and I have a couph but no head congestion. Thank God for that. I hate head colds. If I was gonna get sick then I am glad that I got it now and not right before my surgery causing it to be postponed.
My sis had a cath put in her juglar vein today and had her first kidney dialysis. I hate that she is having to go through this. It was her having renal failure back in March that made up my mind to have weight loss surgery. I didn't want to end up like her.
Well I don't feel much like being online right now and can't think of anything good to write about so will be back when I feel better.
Hugs,
Trish

Yup I voted

Hi there, did you go vote yesterday? Well I did. I have my mother to thank for that. I think if I hadn't went to vote she would've turned over in her grave. She was a devout Democrat. I wonder what she would think of the Democrats today? I hate it when people go and just vote a straight ticket. I vote for each thing separately. I am unhappy that Julia Carson won again. I wanted to see her out. I think she is too old to hold office. We need some new younger blood in there. Oh well enough on that election prose. I am sick of it anyway.
I took my sister (who is 15 months older than me) to the ER yesterday and they kept her. She has been having problems with her kidneys since this past March. I wish she would get well and stay that way. I hate the thought of losing her. We are such a small family now. Mom, Dad, Aunts and Uncles are all gone. Just my brother, sister and I remain and then of course our children. But of people I grew up with there aren't alot left. Getting old isn't for sissys. It is darned hard!! Not only having a young brain and an old body but losing people you love and who love you even though they have known you through good and bad.
We are having Indian Summer here in Indiana and I am loving it. Was in the 60's today and will flirt with 70's tomorrow.
Will close this out now. More again when there is more to tell.

Boooo

Well here it is Halloween. Gosh I hate Halloween. Scary I know but the gobblins will get you if you don't watch out.
I am sitting here fasting waiting to go to IU hospital to participate in a study on kidneys. Fun way to spend the day huh?
I can't believe I didn't do a post on Sunday. Guess I am getting lazy about my posts huh? Kinda soon for that I think.
I also got some great news and haven't posted it yet either.
I got my surgery date. I am having DS surgery on December 13th at 8:30 a.m. That is the day before my 60th birthday. What a way to start a new decade. Embarking on a new and healthier lifestyle. I have a couple of appts in November to get me ready for this. One is with a nutritionist (it is an all day thing from 8:30 to 4:00) who will tell me what I should do and how I should eat after my surgery and the other is a day full of testing at the hospital to make sure that I am up for this surgery or what precautions should be taken during said surgery.
You know I see that number up there (60) and think no way can I be turning 60. I don't feel 60. How old do I feel? Oh I don't maybe 50 if even that. Closer to being in my 40's but definately not 60! Sixty sounds old and I'm not old. I remember my mom saying after she had a major surgery for an aortic annurism (okay I know that isn't spelled right but you get the idea of what I am talking about anyway) she was 70 then and she said now she felt old. That she hadn't felt old before. I was surprised as I had thought she was old for years. Now I understand what she was talking about.
Well folks I better get ready to go. Hope you all have a spooky day....and lots of laughs.
Hugs

No Late Day for me

Well I won't be late for church today, that is for sure. I went to bed last night and forgot to set my clock back an hour and so I woke at 7 a.m. and got in shower and dressed and came online to check on e-mail and read my favorite comic online (For Better or Worse by Lyn Johnston). Looked at my watch and it said 20 till 8 and service starts at 8 so I hurriedly got up from the computer and gathered my stuff and was walking out the door when I remembered about the time change. It was only 20 till 7 not 8. Alas I had forgotten to change the clocks. So it was back to the computer for me to kill an hour. Sure hate it when I do stupid stuff like that. I had even commented to my grandson yesterday that we would have to change our clocks back an hour and then I didn't do it. Oh well I should stop whining. It ain't gonna kill me to be up early for a change. I am such a lazy butt and love napping so will just take a nap when I get home from church.
Hey I finally got my surgery date. Got it on Thursday. The date is......December 13th at 8:30 a.m. Ta DA. That date is the day before my 60th birthday day. A great way to start a new decade of life....leading to a healthier me. Yippee Skippy!!
I am so sick of carrying around this extra person everyday. I wanna yell, "Get offa my back". I would like to lose somewhere between 130 and 150 lbs when all is said and done.
Our Colts play today. Hope we continue our winning streak! It is related to gastric bypass but is better. It has a better success rate for one thing. Won't go into it all here but if you are considering having weight loss surgery please research online and find out about the DS (Duodenal Switch). Anyway I got all of my paperwork together, went to meet with Dr. Inman. Met and had my psych consult and went to surgeons office to sign some papers. That was 3 weeks ago today. Was told it would be at least 2 weeks before I would hear anything. Well it has been 3 weeks and I still haven't heard anything. Waiting for my surgery date is hard. Of course after I get my date it will probably be another month before it happens, still it will be nice to know the date. I thought about this for years but just wasn't ready to do it but now I am.
I have a very busy day tomorrow and kind of dread it. I hate it when so many things come up on one day to be done. I have one thing tomorrow at 9:30 to 2:00 and then a drs appt at 2:30 and after that my son will need me to take him to work, and then last but definately not least, is a bible study from 7 to 8 p.m. I should sleep good tomorrow night :)
It is very cold here today. But hey it is October so what can I expect since I live in the midwest. I do like the changing seasons and think I would be bored living in a climate that never changes. The trees here are just beautiful right now too. All reds, and golds and yellows and still a few greens. If my digital camera wasn't on the blink I would take some pictures but alas it is dead. I need to buy another one but hate to buy anything for myself with Christmas so close.
I also want another digital camera so I can take pictures of my progress after my surgery.
Well I am just rambling on with nothing much to say. Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,
Trish

Brrr Baby It's Cold Outside

Hi Blog readers, Good Sunday to ya. I have noticed that alot of the blogs I read don't usually update their blogs on Sundays. I wonder why that is? For some reason it is a good day for me to blog. Oh well, to each his own.
I had to get out my trusty ol credit card and use it to clean off my car windows this morning before I could drive off to church, (which was very good today btw). I probably could've found an actual window scraper in my trunk but that would take too much work and I knew where my credit card was :) Well at least my mums lived through the frost another day.
In my last posting I mentioned how happy I was to have my son home again. Well for the most part I am still happy about it but goodness it does bring about quite a change in my life and I don't think he realizes how much change. My trash cans are overflowing now and that didn't happen when he was gone. My house is smelling of smoke. I quit smoking 5 years ago this coming November 17th but he still smokes. Yuck it stinks. And to think I used to smell like that wherever I went. What was I thinking? I guess I was hoping that since he had quit smoking for the 10 months that he was gone maybe he wouldn't pick it back up ago but that wasn't the case. I think it makes a difference whether you give it up because you want to stop or because you are not in a position to be able to smoke.
I could make an issue of him going out to smoke but I don't. Heck I know what that feels like, to be a second class citizen because you smoke.
Well I guess I will get off of my high horse on smoking today.
Another change is that I can't get on my computer whenever I want to because he is on it now. Thankfully my mother taught me to share :)
Well I AM glad he is here for now anyway. He is my baby boy. I don't care how old he is. He was born last and will forever be my baby.
If you have stopped by to read this I say thank you and if you have a blog then leave me a link and I will pay you a return visit.
Hugs,
DaPoet

Just another Day?

Hi All, LOL as if anyone is reading this.
Today is Friday the 13th and I hate that! Spooky and all that wicca kind of stuff. Not my kind of a day. Now yesterday that was a day!!!
Yesterday I went and picked my son up from jail. He had been in since the Tuesday before Thanksgiving last year. He had violated his probation for something which ended him back in jail to serve out the rest of his sentence which was about 9 months, then while incarcerated he did something wrong in there and got an extra month. I swear sometimes I think he doesn't think...lol Think? naw I know he doesn't think. Although he is truly smart and is interested to carry on a conversation with. He just doesn't use common sense is all. I guess I didn't either much until I got a little older. But he should be getting there soon. He is 34 now.
Well it was good going to get him and bringing him home to roost for a while, until he gets another job and can get on his feet again. At least now I don't have to worry about him being beat to death in jail or sodomized or some such thing as that. I know he is safe here. But oh what a change in my life already. I was used to being here alone doing what I wanted when I wanted and now there is noise in my house and the phone is ringing off the hook and music playing and video games on and people in and out wishing my son good luck and welcome home.
I suppose I will survive all of this but will be glad when things get back to normal again...but then who is to say what is normal?
It has turned cold here over the last 3 days :( I wasn't ready for this yet. I miss sitting on my front porch watching the world go by. Winter is such a dreary season for me.
Well enough rambling for now. Hope all is well with you if you are reading this.
Hugs from DaPoet
TT (tenacious trish)

Happy Monday

Well we made it through another week-end huh? How about that Colt's game yesterday with the Jets!! That last play was unbelievable. I was here yelling at the t.v. Glad we won though.
Went up North to Carmel area today to sign a waiver at doc's office saying that if Medicare won't pay for my surgery that I will pay it to the tune of 10,000 smackaroos. Whew, I must really want this surgery huh? Well I do. I am so sick and tired of being fat and have tried every diet in the book and the older I get the harder it is to take off this weight. Since the first week in August until last Friday (Sept 28) I only lost 4 lbs. At that rate I would probably be dead and buried before I lost all the weight I need to lose. I want to lose enough to be comfortable going out and working on my yard and taking a good long walk at Eagle Creek. Thinks like that. Should would be nice to be able to breath good again as well. I quit smoking almost 5 years ago now and still my breathing sucks. They tell me it is probably due to all the fat squeezing on my lungs. That is understandable.
I talked to the hospital just a little bit ago and they said that I would owe them 900.00 and something that Medicare won't cover. I will have to pay that too. I think that sucks too but will pay it if I have to.
Well enough about that stuff for now. I will update that when I get my surgery date.
I also do mentoring of 3rd graders at a local elementary school here near my home. This is my 3rd year to do that. Although in the past I always had 2nd graders. It is a very rewarding thing to do. Seeing how the kids progress in their reading skills throughout the school year.
I got home today from doing that to find a Mr. McDreamy on my front porch. It was the head guy/contractor who did the remodling of my house. My goodness he is yummy looking. What a treat to come home and find him here. He was waiting for the inspector to show up to do the final inspection. Well I told him he was welcome to come by and visit anytime he feels like it...lol
Hey you can't blame me. I am too old for him but I am not dead and sure do enjoy looking at him.
Well I guess this is about all I have to say for today. If I think of anything else I will add it later.
syla
DaPoet

Welcome Sunday

I am glad Sunday is here and it is turning out to be a beautiful day. I just got home from church and glad that I got my lazy butt outta bed to go to early services. For about the last 4 weeks I just couldn't seem to pull my self up to go and then felt bad about it afterwards. My oldest daughter, Michelle, is supposed to come over today to see the new digs around my house. Her significant other, Deanna, is going to mow my grass. They are really thoughtful girls. My daughter has taken on 3 foster children to raise and she is loving it. Two little girls and a boy, all from the same mother. The last time something new was done to my house (which was to paint my living room walls a real pale yellow on 3 walls and a deep dark burgandy on the other wall, which Deanna did the painting for me) they came over and brought Alexis with them. She is 5 years old and when she walked into the living room she looked around in awe and said "WOW, what did you do...vacumn?" Of course we broke up in laughter over that comment. So I am anxiously awaiting her comments today. Oh btw, Alexis is the oldest and her sister, Shannon is now 3 and then there is brother Carl who will be 2 on New Years Eve. I was there in the delivery room when he popped out :)
I think I will end this drivel now but may add an addendum after their visit if anything good is said to share.
Thanks for visiting.
Hugs,
Trish

Another day in Paradise

This is my birthday in blog speak. My first try at blogging. I have been reading many many blogs over the last few months and thought it was time to try out my wings and see what I could come up with to entertain and just get things off my chest.
I have just spent the last two weeks having my home remodeled. I could say it has been such an inconvenience having to put up with all of the construction guys in and out of my house making messes but I would be lying. I have loved every minute of it and am sad that the work is now done and over with (pouting) I am a single woman in her 50's and haven't dated for some years now (probably close to 7 years without a date.....grrrrr). It does get lonely sometimes and it was so nice having so many virile young men around me. They made my house look beautiful (new windows, new bathroom, new front door and storm door) and clean and new again. This old house was built in 1952 and I bought it 3 years ago. It still had the same old kitchen cabinets in it, which I changed soon as I moved in. The next thing I want to get done now is to pull up the carpet in the living room and my master bedroom and refinish the beautiful hardwood floors that are underneath the carpet.
I am also busy preparing myself to go in and have BPD/DS surgery here in Indianapolis with a Dr. Inman. I thought very long and very hard about doing this and have finally come to the conclusion that it is the best thing for me in the long run. It gets harder to take off weight as I get older and if I don't get off some of this weight it is going to kill me, and I've got too much livin left in me to let that happen yet.
Well I am going to end this diatribe for now and hopefully will do more tomorrow. I do lead a pretty boring life right now but hopefully that will change soon. If not then this poor ol blog will just die.
Thanks for dropping by and visiting my place.
Tenacious Trish aka poetrywrtr
